Our Story & Philosophy

ABOUT US

“Art should not have to stay on a wall.”

Sketch Theory

Sketch Theory is a contemporary apparel and art platform built around one simple idea: art should not have to stay on a wall.

We collaborate with artists and creators to transform original artwork, characters, stories and visual ideas into thoughtfully designed apparel and collectible experiences.

Rather than treating artwork as a graphic placed on a T-shirt, we approach each collaboration as a product-design exercise. We explore composition, placement, garment colour, print technique, storytelling, personalization and physical details to create pieces that feel intentional and distinctive.

Our goal is to build apparel that people connect with not only because of how it looks, but because of the artist, idea or story behind it.

Our Vision
To create a world where artists can extend their work beyond traditional formats and people can wear art that carries meaning.

We believe the relationship between art and its audience can go much further than prints, paintings and digital screens.

A piece of clothing can become a canvas. A character can become something a person identifies with. A collaboration can become a way for someone to discover an artist they may never otherwise have encountered.

Our vision is to build Sketch Theory into a platform where artists can experiment with apparel and physical products without having to become manufacturers, marketers or fashion businesses themselves.

At the same time, we want customers to discover products that feel more personal, expressive and culturally meaningful than conventional graphic merchandise.

Distinctive Identity

What Makes Sketch Theory Different

Sketch Theory sits at the intersection of art, apparel, storytelling and technology.

Every collaboration begins with the artist and the original work. From there, we explore how that work can exist differently on a garment rather than simply reproducing it in a standard print location.

This may involve unusual artwork placements, different garment treatments, personalization, collectible elements, character stories, limited releases or interactive digital experiences.

Technology in Service of Art

Technology also helps us experiment faster. Our design workflow may use digital and AI-assisted visualization tools to explore different garment colours, placements and concepts before a product moves toward production.

The technology is a tool. The artist, the artwork and the story remain at the centre of the product.

Creative Partnership

Our Approach to Artists

We want Sketch Theory to create value for artists rather than simply use their work as decoration.

Intellectual Property

Artists who collaborate with us retain ownership of their original intellectual property unless a separate agreement expressly provides otherwise.

Fair Commercials

Commercial use of artwork, compensation, royalties and other collaboration terms are agreed separately and transparently with each artist.

Our aim is to make apparel another meaningful medium through which artists can reach audiences and generate value from their work.

Leadership

Our Founders

Sketch Theory was founded by Sandheep Gopinath and Sachin Gopinath, who share equal responsibility for building and growing the company. Their areas of focus are different, but both contribute equally to the overall direction, decisions and development of Sketch Theory.

Sandheep Gopinath

Co-Founder — Product, Engineering & User Experience

Sandheep focuses on the product, technology and user experience behind Sketch Theory.

His work includes shaping the platform experience, developing digital products and internal systems, building technology workflows, improving how customers and artists interact with Sketch Theory, and translating ideas into usable products and experiences.

He also works closely on product development, exploring how artwork, garment design, personalization and technology can come together in ways that go beyond conventional printed apparel.

Focus: Making Sketch Theory visually distinctive, intuitive, scalable and technically strong.

Sachin Gopinath

Co-Founder — Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing & Branding

Sachin focuses on the operational and commercial execution of Sketch Theory.

His responsibilities span supply chain, production coordination, operational processes, marketing and brand development.

He works on building the systems and partnerships required to take a product from concept to production and ultimately to the customer, while ensuring that Sketch Theory develops a consistent and recognizable identity in the market.

Focus: Manufacturing, operational efficiency, brand communication, and the commercial growth engine.

Synergy & Culture

How We Work

Sketch Theory is built around shared ownership.

Product decisions, business direction, artist partnerships and the long-term development of the company are shaped jointly by both founders.

Sandheep primarily leads Product, Engineering and User Experience, while Sachin primarily leads Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing and Branding.

These functions come together to solve the same problem: how to turn original art into products that are well designed, well made, meaningful to customers and commercially valuable to artists.

What We Are Building

Sketch Theory is still evolving.

We are experimenting with ways to make artist collaborations deeper and more valuable through artist-designed apparel, limited collections, personalized products, original characters and stories, collectible artist and character material, new printing and garment-development techniques, digital authenticity, artist discovery and technology-assisted product visualization.

As the platform grows, we want customers to be able to discover the person behind every artwork and understand why a particular piece exists.

Because for us, the artist's story is part of the product.

Our Core Belief

“Great art deserves more ways to be experienced.”

Sketch Theory exists to help create those possibilities.
